Safe Harbor Seafood Market – I Seafood, I Eat It 1/11/15

My friend Jill and I  were talking Shrimp and Grits and she brought up Safe Harbor. I did some research and everywhere I looked gave it the thumbs up. I rounded up the Nom Nom troops and made a reservation for 15. I ended up skipping the Shrimp and Grits because it was a grit cake instead of the preferred creamy oatmealy style. I couldn’t stop thinking about the picture I found of the Blackened Shrimp Nachos and it was way too sexy to resist. I ended up sharing the Nachos, Blackened Shrimp, Scallops, Steamed Oysters, and some Mayport Fish Chowder.

Blackened Shrimp Nachos – Damn that looks sexy! I love the presentation, I just wish i had a bigger bowl. It was like Jenga nachos. I would def add some guacamole to this, you cant have nachos with no guac! I should of asked for it. Also, ease up on the blackened seasoning!

safe-41I ended up sharing the Blackened Shrimp Nachos, Blackened Shrimp, Scallops, Steamed Oysters, and some Mayport Fish Chowder. A word of advice: don’t go all blackened cause it’s a salt fest! The oysters are damn good and were only $5.99 for a dozen.  I’ll be back to try them raw and with a light steam. The Fish Chowder Broth is money, it was perfect for the chilly weather.

The Nom Nom Club strikes again! All smiles =)))))

In the end, I fucks with Safe Harbor Seafood! It’s the first fish market that I know of that doesn’t smell like the bottom of the pier. Apparently, they have a world class ventilation system and that thang works. People rave about this place and the line was bout 30 deep the whole time we were there. I think they should go waitress/server style instead of order inside and put your number on the table. If you get your shit blackened, I would tell them to go light on it. I really liked the Fried Scallops, def getting that next time.  If you come with people, I would share because the portions are massive. The inside is reminiscent of the  Seattle fish markets where they throw the fish around. It is very clean and organized inside. From the looks of it hey run a tight ship and have well trained staff. The outdoor patio seating is nice and ill be back for more!
