My friend Sharon and I were planning a random food meeting and we settled on Black Sheep. I was just here the other night for drinks on the rooftop and I was so impressed that I wanted to come back. One: for the rooftop ambiance, Two: for the Shrimp and Grits, and Three: Brunch+Rooftop = Better lighting for food photos! I recruited some other nommers, made a reservation, and to the roof we go! Enjoy the pictures!

Bloody Mary – Special request + Bacon
The Derby Sidecar – Old Forester Bourbon, Combier, Lemon, Grapefruit Liqueur, Campfire Honey
My friend Mimi originally got the Bloody Mary, but wasn’t a fan. She switched for the Sidecar and made a great choice. This was a super refreshing drink with the Lemon and Grapefruit Liqueur hiding the strong Bourbon.
Seasonal Paloma – Milagro Silver Tequila. Grapefruit Liqueur, Ancho Reyes, Lime, Oregano, Soda
Pimento Deviled Eggs with Tasso Ham
Knowing that the Orsay creators are also responsible for Black Sheep you already know their Deviled Eggs are going to be on point. At $2 these are a no brainer.
Black Sheep Benedict – Biscuit, Bentons Country Ham, Poached Eggs, Spicy Hollandaise
Wild Georgia Shrimp and Grits – Wainwright Cheddar Grits, Tasso Ham, Creole Tomato Gravy, Pickled Trinity
I have literally been on a Jacksonville Shrimp and Grits tour over the last couple of weeks. From The Candy Apple Cafe, Whiskey Jax, 904 Restaurant, Fish and Grits from Orsay, and Black Sheep trumps them all. The grits were extra creamy, perfectly seasoned, and not too salty. The Creole Tomato Gravy is really what sets it apart, it was so good we ordered extra gravy on the side. I love that New Orleans Cajun Flavor! At $13 this is an awesome deal!
Cowboy Farms Grass Fed Hamburger
I recommended my friend Dewayne to order the Grass Fed Burger. My friend Mimi ordered it last time and all i remember is inhaling half of it!

In the end, It’s all about the rooftop. The ambiance is unmatched, unique, and a must experience if your in Jacksonville. Pick a beautiful day and have brunch with a breeze or come at night and watch the city light up, get cozy by the awesome fireplace or portable heaters, close your eyes and pick one of their signature cocktails like The Cowford Daisy or “the put hair on your chest” House Recipe Rock and Rye! Day or night, come get you some Shrimp and Grits! Look on Yelp, everyone is raving about it and if you can find better, holla at me! Black Sheep also has awesome milkshakes with house made Oreos and Poutine if you got the munchiez!
